Snickerdoodles

Mix thoroughly:
     1 cup shortening (butter is best)
     1 1/2 cups sugar
     2 beaten eggs

Sift and add to wet mixture:
     2 3/4 cups flour
     2 tsp cream of tartar
     1 tsp soda
     1/2 tsp salt

Roll into walnut size balls
flatten with bottom os a glass whcih has been dipped in a mixture of :
2 TBSP sugar
2 TBSP cinnamon
or roll balls in mixture and flatten with a fork
Bake @400 * for 8 - 10 minutes
